Lush Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask | Review

Recently I’ve needed a little extra help with my skin. As I talked about in my Ten Tips for Better Skin post it’s important to give your skin an extra boost by way of a face mask. A few weeks ago I picked up the Love Lettuce fresh face mask from Lush to road test and I’ve really been enjoying it.

I’d never used a Lush face mask before but the fact that they use all fresh ingredients in each one appealed to me as like I also said in my Ten Tips for Better Skin post its better to avoid artificial’s in your skin care routine. Due to the face masks being made of fresh ingredients they have a shelf life of four weeks and need to be kept in the fridge, this however adds to the cooling and relaxing feeling of using a face mask but is a slightly odd product to keep in the fridge next to the mayonnaise.  Depending on how thick of a layer you use you can get 4-6 uses out of each tub, I apply a medium layer and leave for 10-15 minutes before washing off.

A Lush Christmas

Christmas is my favourite time of year, it’s October and I’ve already begun my christmas shopping. Lush stocked all of their christmas goodies yesterday so I had to have a browse and ended up buying more than I intended to - but what else is new. So, I thought I’d share with you all what I picked up as Lush have brought out a few new things this year as well as bringing back some old favourites.


Snow fairy shower gel | This is an old favourite, I still have my bottle form last year which is why I didn’t photograph it as the bottle has seen better days. Snow fairy is a very sweet scent without be overly sweet. It lingers on the skin and lathers so well that you only need a drop.

I don’t take baths very often as I’m more of a shower person however when I do I like to have something special as a treat. I had never used a bubble bar from Lush before but when I was last in Lush a couple weeks ago french kiss caught me eye. My favourite scent is lavender and french kiss contains lavender oil & lavender absolute to create a relaxing and calming surrounding so I was instantly attracted to it, french kiss also contains coconut oil for its moisturising properties and rosemary oil for relaxation. To use a bubble bar just crumble part of the bar under the running tap to create multitude of luxurious bubbles - the best thing is you can use bubble bars multiple times unlike bath bombs so £4.25 for 3-4 baths isn’t so bad.

Lush space girl bath ballistic | Review

I rarely take baths as I’m very much a shower person however I received the space girl bath ballistic* from Lush as part of a christmas present from a friend, so I thought I’d give it a try. 


The bath ballistic itself is flying saucer shaped - hence the name space girl - and is laced with glitter - due to this it goes without saying that if you’re allergic to glitter then you should most definitely steer clear. 

It turns your bath a beautiful deep violet shade and also contains popping candy so when submerged in water it fizzes and dissolves quickly. It contains grapefruit and bergamot oils so the scent leans more towards the fruity side rather than the floral or musky side. The scent also lingers on your skin but isn’t overpowering - which is lovely as I hate it when you can’t smell anything after a bath or shower when the product used has such a strong smell.


 The glitter that’s within the bath bomb doesn’t linger on your skin like the scent which is good so you avoid looking like a disco ball and a purple mark isn’t left behind on the side of the bath either.

This, all bundled with a reasonable price tag of £2.25 what’s not to like?

My winter essentials

A few months ago I did a ‘my summer essentials’ post - which can be seen here - and so I thought I’d follow up with a post of my essentials for the colder months since we have now been swept into the depths of winter here in England - I'm already bored of the cold and can't wait for summer to return.


I love candles all year round but particularly in winter they are a must for me. There’s nothing better than cosy-ing up after a cold day with a blanket, a mug of tea - how very British of me - and a good movie with a candle burning in the background. This one from the white company is one of my favourites and I buy one every year. The candles from the white company in general are amazing but for me the scent ‘winter’ - which is only released during winter, obviously - is my all time favourite. It’s the perfect blend of cinnamon, clove and orange that isn’t too overpowering like some spicy scents can be. The best thing about the candles from the white company is that even when they aren’t burning you can smell them and you only need to burn them for an hour or so at time so you definitely get your moneys worth. They’re also made from organic material so they don’t smoke and leave black soot on your wall like silicon based candles do - e.g. Yankee candles.

Lush at Christmas time is a bounty full of sweet smells and glitter which can become quite overwhelming if you’ve never ventured in before - I know that’s how I felt when I first started shopping in Lush. When it comes to Christmas, Lush bring out their own loot of Christmas goodies which are nice but some of their permanent stock can also make really luxurious Christmas presents. Today I’ve put together two present ideas from Lush. One for the more mature lady perhaps - mine is for my lovely mum - and the other for a younger female in you life - mine is for a friend.

First up, the gift for mum. My mum is a hard working lady so I wanted to get her something that she can pamper herself with. Bath products weren’t an option as my mum rarely dips her toes into a steaming bath and much prefers showers. I wanted to get her something very moisturising and generally something she can pamper herself with. In the end I chose the ‘Olive Branch’ shower gel and the ‘Therapy’ massage bar. The shower gel is a mix of olive oil, mandarins, bergamot oil and vine leaves which altogether create a very moisturising product. I’ve bought one of these for my mum in the past and it lasted her a good three months because you really don’t need a lot os product, which is good because Lush products are more expensive than the average. The second product is one of Lush’s massage bars. The idea behind them is that they’re a solid body butter which you smooth over your body in the bath or shower to give your skin extra hydration. Therapy is a mix of shea butter, cocoa butter and natural oils which overall give moisturising and also relaxing qualities. The small bottle of the Olive Branch shower gel is £4.50 and the massage bar is £6.50. To go with these two products I also bought my mum a candle from NEOM so she truly can pamper herself.

The gift for teens. I decided to go for more sweet smelling things opposed to the more mature scents that I chose for my mum. ‘Snow Fairy’ is a limited edition scent which comes out every year. It smells - to me anyway - like candy floss in a bottle and I love candy floss. As with the Olive Branch shower gel you don’t need a lot of the Snow Fairy shower gel to get a good lather and they last a good while. The large bottle is £10.95. The second product is ‘Star Light, Star Bright’ which is a bath melt. These work like regular bath bombs in the sense that you put them in the bath and wait for them to dissolve, but a bath melt is different in that instead of creating a fizz and spectacular colour these dissolve to leave a luxurious mix of moisturising ingredients and natural oils. These melt very easily in your hands - which is why part of the glitter is missing in the picture above, it was on my fingers - which just shows how moisturising they are. They are coated in silver glitter however this doesn’t continue to inside, so when you leave the bath you won’t look like a disco ball! These are £3.30 and are also limited edition.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub | Review

Throughout the year I suffer from very chapped lips (especially in the winter months) which is a pain as I have a love affair with brightly coloured lipsticks which just amplify the dryness. So, as I was walking past Lush the other day I decided to pick up one of their lip scrubs after hearing much about them. I chose the flavour ‘bubblegum’ as it smelt divine (but if sweet and sugary scents aren’t your thing they also sell ‘mint julips’ and ‘popcorn’ alternatives) and so far I am very impressed.

 The scrub completely takes away any loose and dry skin leaving them smooth and perfect for my bright lip colours. They also taste amazing which is an added bonus - and kind of makes me just want to eat it as a snack rather than use it as a scrub. They retail for £5.25 which is a fair price considering the amount you get and how long one pot will last as you only need a small amount and I will definitely be re-purchasing this when mine runs out. :-)
