Spring Pastels | Barry M Quick Dry

I’m a massive fan of the Barry M nail varnishes - my particular love lying with the Gelly collection which I’ve mentioned and raved about countless times. Barry M’s spring collection is a wash of beautiful pastels - its a shade range that they get right every time - with a new quick dry formula. These varnishes are quite patchy so you need three coats to get a really good opaque finish but the shades are a pastel lovers dream - I picked up Eat My Dust and Full Throttle a perfect pastel blue and a pastel orange/coral - however because they are quick dry it doesn’t take very long to paint your nails and if like me you're incredibly impatient with waiting for your nails to dry, then you will love these.

Have you tried Barry M’s new formula yet?

The perfect taupe

There’s something about taupe nail varnish that is so simple yet sophisticated and just makes you feel ‘put together’. I don’t like not having anything on my nails as I just feel incomplete, so on days where I have little enthusiasm to paint my nails — and just want something quick where I don’t have to worry too much about it being neat — or when I need something a little more upmarket than a vibrant green, I always reach for a taupe or nude.

The Rimmel Salon Pro Polish in the shade ‘Oh, Mr Darcy!’ is my new nail love. The name itself had me but the combination of a perfect colour with a kick-ass formula and easy application had me hook, line and sinker. The salon pro line has lycra technology which means this polish lasts and the price isn't too shabby either at £4.49.

My top ten favourites of 2013

For a lot of this year I was using Rimmels Match Perfection foundation in shade 100, Ivory which I did like and was great for the summer as it is light weight and sheer, but buildable. However, when it came to buying a new foundation I wanted to try something new as I wanted a bit more coverage and I wasn’t so keen on the smell of the Match Perfection. So, I went for the popular Healthy Mix foundation. I had tried this before but wasn’t amazingly impressed as it seemed to go patchy throughout the day; but I wanted to give it another go as it has been re-formulated since then, and my skin has changed also so I was keen to see if it suited me any better. And so far, I have been enjoying it!

Country bumpkins

Recently it’s been lovely and sunny in England so to mark the end of our exams Lucy and I laid in the sun enjoying the sunshine and went on a country walk seeing as we live in the back end of nowhere. As usual I had my camera with me so thought I’d share some of the pictures I took with you all.

Current favourites | #1

Recently it’s been freezing cold still in England however its been sunny at the same time so my raybans have come in handy as well as my new favourite lip butter. I’ve re-discovered my ‘omega’ eyeshadow, I used to use it for my brows all the time and slowly drifted away from it but picked it up again a few weeks back. My love affair with the Revlon lip stains and the Barry M gelly nail varnishes are still ongoing and I’ve picked up another shade of the lip stain in ‘lovesick’ and three other nail varnishes in ‘greenberry’, ‘papaya’ and ‘pink’. For Christmas I received the Gucci Guilty perfume and I’ve been loving it. I’m not a fan of sweet perfumes and prefer muskier scents which can be hard to get away with in the day but this one is the perfect in between scent. I’ve been trying out a new foundation recently and I love it, I picked it up the day it was released in the UK and haven’t stopped wearing it. I’ve also become obsessed with the real techniques makeup brushes. I own the core collection as well as the blush brush, they’re affordable and insanely good. Lastly I received the Daniel Wellington York ladies watch for me birthday early last month and I’ve been wearing it everyday since. This classic and simple design makes it easy to wear as it matches everything.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Varnish | Review

Whilst I was wondering through superdrug the other day I picked up one of Barry M’s gelly hi-shine nail varnishes. I’m a massive fan of Berry M polishes as they are affordable and great quality so I was excited to try their new range.

I picked up the shade ‘blueberry’ which is a beautiful powder blue colour (the perfect spring/summer shade - even though it’s winter). These polishes are great. They dry quickly (which I love as I get very impatient waiting for my nails to dry), the pigmentation is great for a drugstore brand and they definitely are a lot shinier than regular nail polishes. They also seem to not chip as easily as my other polishes which is lovely as I’m always too lazy to put a top coat on. I will definitely be picking up more colours as they’re a small price of £3.99.
